El grupo yihadista ISIS reivindicó este sábado el ataque perpetrado el viernes por un hombre que asesinó a cuchilladas a dos personas y dejó además varios heridos en las inmediaciones del Puente de Londres, según la consultora especializada en terrorismo yihadista SITE.
«El autor del ataque de ayer en Londres es un combatiente del Estado Islámico», indicó SITE, que reprodujo un mensaje de la agencia Amaq, vinculada a los terroristas y cuyas cuentas en las redes sociales mayoritarias han sido bloqueadas en los últimos días por las autoridades.
Según el comunicado obtenido por SITE, el ataque fue perpetrado «en respuesta a los llamamientos de atacar a los ciudadanos de la coalición» internacional, liderada por Estados Unidos, que lucha en Siria contra el grupo yihadista y que terminó con la vida de su líder y fundador, Abu Bakr al Bagdadi, el pasado octubre.
En realidad, el ISIS ha quedado muy golpeado y debilitado en los últimos años, y aunque varios ataques se han cometido en nombre de la banda yihadista, lo cierto es que muchas veces son atacantes solitarios que sólo usan esa bandera.
El terrorista que mató a cuchilladas a dos personas y dejó varios heridos el viernes en las inmediaciones del popular Puente de Londres, en el centro de la ciudad, había salido de la cárcel hacía un año, tras cumplir la mitad de una condena de 16 años por planear atentados yihadistas en la capital británica.
Usmar Khan, de 28 años, identificado por la policía como el autor del ataque, había pertenecido a una célula inspirada en Al Qaeda que fue desarticulada antes de que perpetrara un gran atentado en las semanas previas a la Navidad de 2010.
Entre la lista de objetivos del grupo que halló entonces la policía estaba el edificio de la Bolsa de Valores, el Big Ben, la abadía de Westminster, la embajada estadounidense en Londres y la casa de Boris Johnson, entonces alcalde de la capital británica y ahora primer ministro del Reino Unido.
Johnson visitó este sábado el puente de Londres y defendió la necesidad de endurecer las penas contra los criminales más violentos, así como de asegurarse de que los terroristas cumplen sus sentencias íntegramente.
A menos de dos semanas para las elecciones generales del 12 diciembre, Johnson, líder del Partido Conservador británico, indicó que su programa electoral prevé cambiar la ley para que ese tipo de individuos pasen más tiempo en prisión.
