Después de años de planificación, construcción y repetidos retrasos, antes de terminar el 2019 se pondrá en funcionamiento la nueva línea de tren rápido entre Tel Aviv y Jerusalén.

El día 21 de diciembre a las 21:56 saldrá desde la estación Itzhak Navon, en Jerusalén, el primer tren que llegará a Tel Aviv a las 22:28, tras hacer una parada en el aeropuerto Ben Gurion.
A la misma hora, un tren saldrá en dirección contraria y llegará a Jerusalén a las 22:30. Luego, a partir del 22 de diciembre, saldrá un tren en cada dirección cada media hora, menos en el horario nocturno que funcionará una vez por hora.
Por el momento, el tren llegará hasta la estación Hahaganá en el sur de Tel Aviv, pero se espera que durante el próximo año continúe también a otras estaciones de la ciudad.
Actualmente, el tren estaba funcionando entre las ciudades pero con una parada y cambio de tren en el aeropuerto Ben Gurion, debido a problemas en la vía.
Se estima que el costo de las obras para esta vía del tren ha sido de entre 7 y 9 billones de shekels (más de 2 mil millones de dólares).
