La Comunidad de Madrid anunció que ampliará los contenidos sobre el judaísmo y su legado. Le dará mayor presencia en el currículo de la Educación Secundaria Obligatoria (ESO) a partir del curso que viene. Hasta ahora la referencia a este tema era mínima, y se reducía al estudio de la expulsión de los judíos en la época de los Reyes Católicos y al Holocausto de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, sin que se incluyeran expresamente la envergadura y las consecuencias que tuvo la presencia de los judíos en la Península Ibérica.
El Gobierno regional ya ha dado luz verde al Decreto para la modificación del currículo de Educación Secundaria que permitirá poner en marcha esta medida. Los nuevos contenidos se añadirán a la materia troncal de Geografía e Historia en los cursos 2º, 3º, y 4º de ESO. De esta manera se cumplirá con el objetivo de que estos estudios estén presentes en todos los centros de la Comunidad de Madrid.

Así, los estudiantes conocerán los orígenes judíos, su presencia en la Península, las principales aportaciones a la literatura, el arte, la ciencia y a tantas otras ramas del saber, así como la importancia de su legado cultural y patrimonial. Gracias en gran medida a los intelectuales judíos se pudieron transmitir muchos de los conocimientos y los autores clásicos grecorromanos y musulmanes.
