La selección israelí de fútbol nunca pudo clasificarse a la Eurocopa, uno de los torneos de fútbol más importantes del mundo.
Y aunque pocas veces estuvo tan cerca como en esta oportunidad, los israelíes nuevamente se quedarán con las ganas.
El esperado partido de visitante ante Escocia, válido por la semifinal del playoffs clasificatorio, se disputó con marcada paridad: durante los 90 minutos de juego ninguno de los equipos logró establecer una diferencia, tampoco en la media hora de tiempo suplementario, y tras el 0-0 final los escoceses se impusieron 5-3 en la definición por penales.

Eran Zahavi, la estrella de la selección israelí de fútbol, falló el único penal de la serie que marcó la escueta diferencia de la noche en Glasgow. De esta manera, en noviembre Escocia enfrentará a Serbia por una de las últimas plazas de la Eurocopa 2021 informó Ynet.
El equipo israelí deberá superar el mal trago lo más pronto posible ya que en los próximos días afrontará dos partidos por la Liga de las Naciones de la UEFA. Después de dos empates en el inicio del certamen, Israel el domingo recibirá a República Checa y el miércoles visitará a Eslovaquia.
