Al menos diez personas murieron en bombardeos israelíes contra objetivos sirios e iraníes en el sur de Siria el miércoles. Sucedió un día después de que se descubrieran dispositivos explosivos en el lado israelí de los Altos del Golán, cerca de la frontera.
El portavoz del ejército israelí afirmó que la “poderosa” ofensiva tuvo como blanco el mando central de las fuerzas iraníes cerca del aeropuerto de Damasco. Es un complejo que alberga a representantes de Irán de alto nivel.
Según el Observatorio Sirio de Derechos Humanos (OSDH) con sede en el Reino Unido, varios ciudadanos iraníes se encontraban entre las diez personas que murieron en el ataque. Israel manifestó que los explosivos hallados ayer fueron colocados durante una misión conjunta de las fuerzas sirias e iraníes.
Tres de los muertos eran oficiales de la Defensa Aérea siria. Otros cinco posiblemente eran iraníes pertenecientes a la Fuerza Quds, de la Guardia Revolucionaria de la República Islámica. Los dos restantes eran ciudadanos libaneses o iraquíes, señaló el OSDH.

En un comunicado, las Fuerzas de Defensa de Israel (FDI) expresaron que sus aviones tenían como objetivo el ejército sirio y la Fuerza Quds de Irán. Los bombardeos impactaron en instalaciones de almacenamiento de armas, complejos militares y baterías de misiles tierra-aire sirias.
Por su parte,el portavoz de las FDI, Hidai, aseveró: «Este fue un ataque poderoso», «Bombardeamos objetivos cerca de la frontera y todo el camino hasta el área de Damasco, incluido un centro de comando central de las fuerzas iraníes desplegadas cerca del aeropuerto de la capital y un complejo secreto que alberga a representantes de Irán de alto nivel, justo al sur de la ciudad».
Zilberman dijo que el ataque al complejo se llevó a cabo para enviar un mensaje directo con el fin de demostrar que Israel siempre está preparado para cualquier represalia.
«El sistema de defensa antiaérea “Cúpula de Hierro” se ha reforzado en el norte y estamos preparados para cualquier tipo de escenario», sostuvo.
«Anteriormente, las tropas de las FDI expusieron artefactos explosivos improvisados en el lado israelí de la frontera, que fueron colocados por un escuadrón sirio liderado por las fuerzas iraníes». Así lo indicó un comunicado emitido por la Unidad de Portavoces de las FDI.

«La exposición de estos dispositivos el martes es una clara prueba del atrincheramiento iraní en Siria», manifestó el ejército.
El ministro de Defensa, Benny Gantz, en una visita a la frontera norte el martes, dijo que Israel no toleraría la colocación de explosivos en el Golán.
Además, agregó,»No podemos mirar para otro lado. Es un incidente grave», declaró Gantz a los periodistas.
Israel ha atacado en varias oportunidades objetivos iraníes en Siria y de milicias aliadas, incluido Hezbollah.
Por su parte, Gantz afirmó que Israel responsabiliza a Siria por «todo lo que ocurre en su territorio».
