La Unión Argentina de Rugby decidió levantar la sanción a los tres Pumas por sus viejos tuits racistas

La Unión Argentina de Rugby (UAR) decidió levantar la sanción a los tres Pumas por sus viejos tuits racistas. Es que el escándalo luego de la viralización del contenido discriminatorio de los integrantes de la Selección Argentina de Rugby en redes sociales no deja de generar noticias.

En la noche de este miércoles llegó la última novedad desde la UAR. Ante el rechazo que había generado en referentes del deporte y algunos clubes las sanciones a Pablo Matera, Guido Petti y Santiago Socino, la entidad decidió dar marcha atrás con la decisión que había tomado apenas 48 horas atrás informó Clarín.

La decisión de los dirigentes llegó a poco menos de tres días del encuentro que el equipo argentino jugará ante Australia, por la última fecha del Tres Naciones. De esta manera, los tres jugadores estarían en condiciones de estar presentes, aunque hay dudas sobre si integrarán el equipo y también sobre quién será el capitán finalmente.

El escándalo por los tuits racistas generó una grieta en el rugby argentino. Más allá del pedido de disculpas de los jugadores, la UAR había decidido revocarle la capitanía a Matera. También iniciarles un proceso disciplinario a los tres jugadores y suspenderlos provisoriamente hasta que la Comisión de Disciplina estudiara y resolviera la situación.

Hubo un repudio generalizado a los mensajes. No obstante, las sanciones, respaldadas por unos pocos, fueron duramente criticadas por la mayoría de jugadores y ex jugadores. Todos salieron a respaldar a sus colegas del seleccionado y a tratar de calmar los ánimos.

Por la noche, llegó la noticia de que la UAR había decidido dejar sin efecto las sanciones. ¿Será el último capítulo de esta historia? No lo parece.
