«Pasamos de ‘Aplanar la curva en 14 días’ a ‘Ir de puerta en puerta para ver sus papeles’. Tengo que admitir que es NAZI eso que viene», afirmó Rosie Gallegos-Main en un mensaje que publicó en redes sociales.

La publicación, enviada a sus cuentas de Instagram y Facebook la semana pasada, fue marcada por ambas plataformas de redes sociales por difundir información errónea.

Gallegos-Main eliminó su publicación horas después de que The Associated Press llamara la atención del Comité Olímpico y Paralímpico de EE.UU (USOPC).

La mujer, quiropráctica del equipo desde 2009, envió una carta al Comité de Diversidad, Equidad e Inclusión de Lucha Libre de EE. UU. lamentando su «mal juicio y decisión de compartir este mensaje».

Una vez que finalicen los Juegos, se le pedirá que se someta a una formación en diversidad, equidad e inclusión.

“La USOPC no aprueba ni tolera ningún comportamiento que ofenda o ataque intencionalmente a otros”, dijo la entidad en un comunicado. “La publicación que compartió esta voluntaria es completamente inconsistente con nuestros valores y se lo dejamos claro tan pronto como nos dimos cuenta».

Además, el mensaje manifiesta: “Como se muestra a través de su pronta eliminación de la acción y su disculpa, mostró un claro arrepentimiento y está comprometida con un proceso educativo con expertos”.

La integrante de la delegación de Estados Unidos en los JJOO dijo que «no pensó en cómo el final del meme podría afectar a otros», y que su comentario enfatizaba en la «coerción por parte de las autoridades» con respecto al Covid, «en lugar de cualquier cosa que tenga que ver con Alemania, los nazis y el pueblo judío».

«Ahora veo que están vinculados y no se pueden separar», escribió. “Nunca volveré a usar esta palabra en ninguna forma que no tenga una base adecuada para su uso. Estoy profundamente entristecida por esto y deseo disculparme por mi pobre juicio y mi decisión de compartir este mensaje. También lamento generar esta distracción para la delegación, que debería centrarse en apoyar a nuestros atletas lo mejor que podamos», concluyó.

Cerca de 22.000 personas viajaron a Japón para los Juegos y viven bajo estrictas restricciones para evitar un aumento de infecciones.
