El presidente de Colombia, Iván Duque, que se encuentra en Israel con motivo de una visita oficial, rezó este domingo en el Kotel. Según medios colombianos, se trata del primer presidente colombiano en realizar este acto en el lugar sagrado de la ciudad de Jerusalén.

Duque también hizo visitas al Santo Sepulcro y al Jardín de Getsemaní, sitios sagrados para el cristianismo, informó Enlace Judío.
Tras su visita al Kotel, dijo que “fue un espacio de reflexión espiritual, donde pedimos por Colombia. También por la paz de nuestro país, la protección del planeta, pedimos para que el mundo pase la página del COVID-19”.
Indicó además que “aquí hay tanta historia y han confluido en este lugar tanta historia religiosa, para mí fue un momento muy especial”.
“Creo que fue un espacio de reflexión en el que pedimos por Colombia, por la paz de nuestro país, para que Colombia salga adelante y recuperemos empleos. Un espacio muy especial de reflexión. Lo mismo sentí en el Santo Sepulcro”, expresó.

Tras llegar desde Emiratos Árabes Unidos, Duque fue recibido por el embajador de Israel en Colombia, Christian Cantor. También por el viceministro en la Oficina del Primer Ministro de Israel, Abit Kara y Yair Golan, viceministro de Economía y Turismo. Estuvieron también Gil Hasken, Jefe de Protocolo del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores y por Jonathan Peled, director general adjunto para América Latina.
La visita de Duque durará 3 días y se tiene previsto que inaugure una oficina diplomática en Jerusalén. Además, tendrá encuentros con el primer ministro israelí Naftali Bennett y el presidente Yitzhak Herzog.
Los ministros de Salud, Agricultura, Medio Ambiente, Transporte, Comercio y Defensa de Colombia forman parte de la gran delegación que acompaña a Duque. La misma incluye empresarios y miembros de la comunidad judía colombiana.
