En una marcha del Congreso Judío Mundial para repudiar el avance del antisemitismo, con la presencia de la Canciller Angela Merkel y el Presidente de Alemania, Joachim Gauck;el mundo político, religioso, cultural e intelectual del país se dio cita en el lugar para denunciar una enfermedad que parecía haber desaparecido del país: el antisemitismo. Bajo el lema «Levántate. Nunca más odio hacia los judíos», el Consejo Central Judío decidió organizar una gran manifestación,
El Presidente del Congreso Judío Latinoamericano Claudio Epelman también esta presente.
Entre las personalidades que aceptaron estar presentes en el escenario, se encontraban el presidente de Alemania, Joachim Gauck; el presidente del Consejo de la Iglesia Evangélica, Nikolaus Schneider; el presidente de la Conferencia Episcopal, cardenal Reinhardt Marx, y el presidente del Consejo Mundial Judío, Ronald S. Lauder, quienes también se han dirigido al país para pedir a la población alemana una clara muestra de solidaridad y apoyo a la comunidad judía que vive en Alemania.
La manifestación, que comenzó a las tres de esta tarde, marca un nuevo hito en el país, que vivió un verano caliente cuando cientos de palestinos salieron a las calles para gritar consignas en contra de los judíos y protestar por lo que ellos calificaron como “un genocidio” llevado a cabo por el ejército israelí en la franja de Gaza y entonaron gritos que hicieron recordar los días negros que vivió Alemania durante el Tercer Reich.
“¡Muerte a los judíos!”, “¡Judío, judío, cerdo cobarde, sal fuera y lucha solo!”, “¡Judíos a las cámaras de gas!”, fueron algunos de los gritos que los manifestantes, en su mayoría de origen palestino, lanzaron durante las manifestaciones que tuvieron lugar en la elegante y céntrica calle Kursfürstendamm y ante la mirada impávida de los peatones alemanes.
El cese de las hostilidades en la franja de Gaza obró el milagro en Berlín y en otras capitales europeas de acabar con las protestas, pero las protestas callejeras dejaron una profunda huella en la comunidad judía, sobre todo la que vive en Berlín, y también en los círculos oficiales del país a causa de otro fenómeno: La población alemana, además de mostrar indiferencia ante los ataques verbales que recibieron los judíos, nunca se mostró solidaria.
“Todos los alemanes y todas las personas que viven en Alemania tienen que alzar la voz cuando el antisemitismo se manifiesta en la calle”, dijo el presidente del país, Joachim Gauck. El llamamiento de la primera autoridad de Alemania fue secundado por la canciller, Angela Merkel, quien advirtió que los sucesos que sacudieron a la capital eran un ataque a la libertad y a la tolerancia” y un intento de desestabilizar el orden democrático.
“Existe una gran inseguridad en la comunidad judía y la gente ya no se atreve a caminar con una kipá por algunos barrios de Berlín, como Kreuzberg o Neuekölln, donde hay una gran mayoría de habitantes de origen árabe o turco y tampoco en Marzahn donde hay una fuerte presencia neonazi”, dijo Sergey Lagodinski, un distinguido politólogo de origen judío y miembro del directorio de la comunidad judía. “Las protestas dejaron en evidencia el nivel de intolerancia que existe en Berlín y en otras ciudades alemanas”, añadió.
La falta de solidaridad y la intolerancia convencieron al Consejo Central Judío de organizar la manifestación, pero la convocatoria, a pesar de que fue apoyada por las personalidades más destacadas del país, encierra un enigma que preocupa. Nadie sabe cuántas personas acudirán a la cita para solidarizarse con la comunidad judía.
