El Papa Francisco abrirá los archivos secretos del Vaticano sobre la Shoa

El periodista Juan Arias publicó en el diario «El País» de España un artículo sobre el anunció que hará el Papa Francisco sobre la apertura de archivos secretos de el Vaticano sobre el Holocausto. El Sumo Pontífice lo dirá en el marco del viaje a Israel en mayo. A continuación el texto:

Francisco está preparando una sorpresa con motivo de su primer viaje a Tierra Santa, la cuna judía del cristianismo, que tendrá lugar del 24 al 26 de mayo próximo. Al parecer, quiere anunciar antes de ir que ha autorizado que se abran los archivos secretos sobre el holocausto judío. De hacerlo, habrá quebrado un nuevo misterio guardado bajo cuatro llaves en los polvorientos archivos vaticanos. Ningún papa se había atrevido antes a entregar esas llaves.

Al papa Francisco no le gusta la cultura del secreto, una planta que tanto ha cultivado siempre el Vaticano, y quiere que se conozcan hasta las noticias más comprometidas porque, según él, la Iglesia “no debe temer la verdad”. ¿Ni siquiera la verdad que han ocultado los documentos guardados sobre las polémicas relaciones entre el papa Pio XII y el nazismo?

Según noticias llegadas desde Roma, ya está digitalizado todo lo que se refiere a las acusaciones hechas al papa Pacelli de haber mantenido silencio sobre las matanzas de judíos para no enfrentarse con Hitler, quien a su vez hubiese podido, de haber sido excomulgado, tomar represalias contra los católicos. ¿Y si el mundo se encontrase con sorpresas desagradables para la Iglesia en esos archivos sobre el Holocausto?

“Que se conozca todo, y si nos equivocamos tendremos que decir: “Erramos”, le dijo el entonces cardenal arzobispo de Buenos Aires a su amigo el rabino Skorka en el libro que escribieron juntos. A la pregunta del rabino de si la Iglesia estaría dispuesta a abrir sus archivos secretos relacionados con la matanza judía, el futuro papa le respondió que él estaba de acuerdo y añadió que la Iglesia “no debe tener miedo a la verdad”.

El gesto de abrir los archivos secretos del Vaticano sobre el Holocausto está lleno de simbolismos. Forma parte de la revolución que Francisco está llevando en la Iglesia a la que intenta empujar hacia sus orígenes, que justamente se encuentran en tierra judía.

Ha sido el papa Francisco el que ha recordado que el Concilio Vaticano II defendió que “el pueblo de Israel sigue siendo el depositario de las promesas”.

No existiría cristianismo sin el judaísmo, de cuyo troncó acabaría naciendo. Jesús era judío de nacimiento y de religión. Su misión fue perfeccionar el judaísmo, limpiarlo de sus escorias, de su elitismo y abrirlo como promesa divina a los gentiles, a los no judíos.

Su madre, María, era judía y lo fueron todos sus apóstoles. Y Pedro, el primer obispo de Roma, era judío. Hoy la Iglesia lee la Biblia judía en cada misa que celebra y el papa usa el kipá judío que los católicos llaman solideo.

El gesto de acercamiento del papa católico a los judíos que sufrieron el martirio del Holocausto además de querer ser un resarcimiento de daños por los tiempos en que la Iglesia rezaba en la liturgia de Semana Santa por los “pérfidos judíos”, que habrían matado a Cristo, es también un gesto de alto valor político. Francisco, en efecto, o va a Jerusalén no sólo como invitación a la Iglesia a volver a sus orígenes, sino también para poder colocarse ante Israel como un interlocutor creíble en el difícil y eterno diálogo de paz entre judíos y palestinos.

A los cristianos les manda un mensaje claro: se acabó el secretismo en la Iglesia. Francisco se ha propuesto desnudarla de sus super estructuras despojándola de riquezas y oropeles, de símbolos de poder, de viejos tabús para resucitar la primitiva sencillez de los orígenes del cristianismo, cuando el profeta de Nazaret, le decía ya a sus apóstoles que no debían esconder la verdad sino que debían gritarla “desde los techos de las casas”. ¿Se había anticipado a Internet?

Francisco, que dicen que es el papa más parecido a lo que fueron los primeros discípulos de Jesús, vuelve a recordar a la Iglesia que no debe temer la verdad, que desempolve hasta sus secretos mejor escondidos y que si es necesario pedir perdón al mundo, que lo pida.

Quizás con el nuevo tabú quebrado en vísperas de su viaje a Israel, Francisco pueda abrir un nuevo diálogo entre los dos pueblos de la Biblia siempre en guerra, para que un día el mundo pueda celebrar la tan suspirada firma de paz entre judíos y palestinos.

A veces, en efecto, los gestos, tienen mayor fuerza de persuasión que todos los discursos. Y Francisco es un papa de gestos, que a veces escandalizan, pero que con ellos está incluso conquistando la simpatía hasta de los no cristianos, agnósticos y ateos.

Pocas cosas he escuchado tan revolucionarias del papa que está por abrir los archivos secretos del Vaticano que aquella de que cuando se encuentra con alguien que no conoce, no le pregunta ni le importa saber si cree o no en Dios, solo si “hace algo por su prójimo”.

Francisco está arrastrando la poderosa y rica cúpula de San Pedro a la cuna humilde de Nazaret, una aldea hecha de casas de barro que ni siquiera aparecía en los mapas de aquel tiempo. A Galileo la Iglesia le condenó porque sostenía que la Tierra no estaba parada si no que se movía.

Condenado por el Vaticano, aceptó la condena pero añadió: “Eppur si muove”…Y sin embargo se mueve

Es posible que obispos y hasta cardenales de la vieja Iglesia critiquen a Francisco porque a una Iglesia que parecía acomodada, parada en el tiempo, le ha dado cuerda y ahora, guste o no, esa Iglesia se ha puesto en camino generando a la vez estupor y esperanza.
