El diputado Moshé Gafni, del partido ultra ortodoxo Judaísmo Unido de la Torá, y presidente de la Comisión de Finanzas de la Knéset (Parlamento), criticó duramente las visitas judías al Monte del Templo de Jerusalén, indicando que los hebreos que suben al sitio sagrado están violando la ley judía.
Gafni le dijo a la radio estatal La Voz de Israel (Kol Israel) que los judíos religiosos que visitan el Monte del Templo están llevando al país a la guerra, y los comparó con los zelotes que se rebelaron contra la ocupación romana en el período del Segundo Templo.
“La Guemará los ha calificado de matones; mientras que Rashi (Rabi Shlomo Yitjaki, considerado el más excelso comentarista de la Biblia), los denominó [gente] vacía, que imprudentemente [condujo al país] a la guerra”.
Gafni agregó que Israel tiene el control soberano de Jerusalén y las visitas judías al Monte del Templo son un “provocación estúpida” que le causa un daño inconmensurable a Israel.
