Más de 100 médicos que trabajan en hospitales israelíes pidieron reforzar las salas de internación del país y consideran que el sistema de salud afronta la amenaza de un “invierno brutal”.
Los profesionales firmaron una carta que estaba dirigida al primer ministro, Benjamín Netanyahu; al ministro de Salud, Yuli Edelstein; y al ministro de Finanzas, Israel Katz.

En el texto advierten sobre la falta de recursos humanos y de equipamiento en los hospitales. Expresaron su preocupación por el rebrote de COVID-19 en Israel como un agravante de una situación que ya existía. “Desde hace dos años pedimos abordar el tema de las salas de internación para afrontar los complejos desafíos diarios. La crisis del coronavirus se suma a los problemas”.

Más allá de la pandemia, en relación con las enfermedades estacionales que se esperan para los próximos meses la carta expresa que “este invierno podría ser especialmente brutal”. Reiteran sobre la falta de recursos: “Les advertimos que las salas de internación no están equipadas y listas para afrontar los desafíos del próximo invierno.”
“En estos años nunca hicimos nada que pudiera dañar a los pacientes: no organizamos protestas, no apelamos ante la Corte Suprema, no bloqueamos calles ni tomamos medidas que muchos nos recomendaron tomar. Ahora la pelota está en su cancha”, exigieron los profesionales de la salud con una advertencia sobre posibles medidas de fuerza del sector.

Por su parte, jefes de salas de emergencia enviaron una carta similar al ministro Edelstein. Puntualizaron sobre las preocupaciones para afrontar las exigencias del coronavirus a medida que los casos aumentan.
“Esta crisis se comenzó a combatir con un sistema de salud ´flaco´, cuya capacidad está agotada y funciona a pesar de la falta de recursos”, denunciaron.
“Nuestro desafío actual combina la sobrecarga de tarea para proporcionar la asistencia médica de rutina con el creciente número de consultas por coronavirus”. Finalizaron en un pedido paralelo de mayor asignación de recursos para los hospitales israelíes.
