La fachada del Ayuntamiento (Municipalidad) de Tel Aviv en Israel se iluminó anoche con los colores de la bandera del Líbano en solidaridad y apoyo a los afectados por la explosión ocurrida en el puerto de Beirut.
El intendente Ron Huldai, publicó en sus redes: «Esta noche iluminamos el edificio del ayuntamiento con la bandera libanesa. La humanidad precede a cualquier conflicto, y nuestros corazones están con el pueblo libanés a raíz del terrible desastre que les sucedió».

Las autoridades del ministerio de Salud del país confirmaron que ya registraron más de 100 muertos y al menos 4.000 heridos como consecuencia de la explosión. Reporteros en el lugar informan de personas ensangrentadas y otras atrapadas bajo los escombros.

La cadena libanesa LBCI precisó que la sustancia que explotó fue nitrato de sodio, utilizada como fertilizante y también para producir explosivos, que había sido confiscado a un buque un año atrás.
