El jueves se produjo un grave ataque antisemita en la casa de un joven judío holandés, un complejo residencial en Maastricht.

Cuando el estudiante judío de la Universidad de Maastricht, denominado «E.» (pidió mantenerse en el anonimato), regresó a su apartamento, vio que su mezuzá (pergamino que tiene escrito dos versículos de la Torá y que está en el marco de la puerta) fue destruida y estaba tirada en el piso. Y como si fuera poco, en su lugar tallaron una esvástica.

El joven judío holandés, por su parte, no considera que se trató de un ataque personal sino de un ataque a toda la comunidad judía.

E. contó sobre su compromiso con la tolerancia y la lucha contra el antisemitismo a diario a través de su trabajo con diversas organizaciones. Por lo tanto, se mostró muy sorprendido de haber sido el objetivo de este ataque. Por otra parte, E. piensa que la destrucción la causaron vecinos del mismo complejo residencial.

La entrada cuenta con un sistema de control de acceso. Por lo tanto se espera que la policía tome el caso rápidamente.

Elad Zigler, director de la Fundación StandWithUs en Países Bajos, afirmó: “Estamos profundamente conmocionados por este evento. Una ciudad diversa como Maastricht debería ser un lugar seguro para todos, independientemente de su origen. Que los judíos en 2021 sigan siendo víctimas del antisemitismo de una manera tan intimidante es realmente triste y muestra la urgencia de la educación y la tolerancia».
