Un ex guardia de un campo de concentración nazi de 100 años ha sido acusado en Alemania de ser cómplice de asesinato en 3.500 casos.
Está previsto que el acusado (su nombre no se reveló) vaya a juicio en octubre en el tribunal de Neuruppin por su servicio en Sachsenhausen.
Las sesiones de la corte que requieran la presencia del acusado se limitarán a unas dos horas al día debido a su edad.
El ex guardia nazi trabajó de 1942 a 1945 en Sachsenhausen, un campo cerca de Berlín, y está acusado de ser cómplice de asesinato de unos 3500 prisioneros. Allí, además, se estima que cerca de 200.000 personas fueron encarceladas.

Alemania procesó a varios cómplices acusados de crímenes de guerra nazis desde la condena en 2011 en Munich del ex guardia del campo de concentración John Demjanjuk, quien vivió en EE.UU. antes de que lo arrestaran, deportaran y juzgaran por su papel en Sobibor. Lo declararon culpable como cómplice de los asesinatos de casi 30.000 judíos y murió en 2012.
El caso Demjanjuk sentó un precedente de que ser guardia en un campo de exterminio era suficiente para demostrar la complicidad en el asesinato. Sin embargo, pocos de los guardias siguen con vida, por lo que el número de procesamientos está disminuyendo.
