Israel está considerando la posibilidad de trasladar su embajada en Kiev a Lviv en medio de fuertes preocupaciones de una invasión rusa.
Funcionarios de la cancillería se reunieron el martes en Jerusalén para evaluar la situación en desarrollo en Ucrania. Después de la reunión, el ministerio dijo que el personal de la embajada de Israel en Kiev continuará brindando servicios consulares en la ciudad, junto con personal adicional de Jerusalén.
Otro equipo llegará a Lviv, en el oeste de Ucrania. Ubicado más lejos de la frontera rusa, se “prepararán para la posibilidad” de trasladar la embajada allí si es necesario.
La inteligencia estadounidense, por su parte, teme que las fuerzas rusas puedan bombardear Kiev dentro de los dos días posteriores al lanzamiento de una invasión, en caso de que el presidente Vladimir Putin la ordene.
En los últimos días, varios países occidentales trasladaron personal diplomático de Kiev a Lviv, en el extremo oeste de Ucrania.
Además, el canciller israelí Yair Lapid dijo que Israel abrirá misiones adicionales en Lviv “si es necesario”.

Lapid también reiteró su llamado a los israelíes en Ucrania para que se vayan lo antes posible.

Estoy orgulloso de nuestros diplomáticos en Kiev y de los refuerzos que vinieron de Israel por la asistencia que brindan a los israelíes que la necesitan”, aseveró.
Luego de la intervención de la embajada israelí, varias universidades importantes en Ucrania permitieron que los estudiantes israelíes continúen sus estudios online, lo que les permite regresar a Israel.
La vicecanciller de Ucrania, Emine Dzhaparova, lamentó los llamados urgentes de Israel para que sus ciudadanos abandonen el país. Dijo que se está causando pánico y daños económicos.
Lapid le contestó que Israel no participa en el conflicto entre Rusia y Ucrania y, por lo tanto, actúan con cautela.
Se cree que hay entre 10.000 y 15.000 israelíes en el país.
