Aberrante caricatura de un diario belga que nombra a un barrio judío como ‘Pueblo del Coronavirus’

Una fuerte polémica generó una caricatura que publicó un diario belga y nombra al barrio judío ortodoxo de Amberes como «pueblo del coronavirus».

El dibujo del 7 de agosto en Le Soir del artista Pierre Kroll, muestra un autobús turístico con el título «Go Visit Antwerp».  El dibujante ha combatido acusaciones de antisemitismo en varios dibujos anteriores,

Un judío ortodoxo anda en bicicleta cerca sin usar una máscara facial, varias de las cuales se ven en el suelo alrededor del autobús.

Un globo de diálogo sobre el conductor del autobús dice: «Después del zoológico, haremos un recorrido por ‘Coronavirus Village'».

Richard Kennigsman, un conocido satírico judío-belga, escribió en Facebook que si bien «no llamé a Kroll un antisemita, su pintura se considera como tal».

Joel Rubinfeld, presidente de la Liga Belga Contra el Antisemitismo, dijo que la caricatura «muestra nuevamente que Kroll regresa obsesivamente a los judíos en sus obras».

La caricatura en la que nombra a un barrio judío ortodoxo como «pueblo del coronavirus», del 7 de agosto es «sutil en comparación con trabajos anteriores de Kroll». Rubinfeld, recordó una de un comerciante de diamantes judío lujosamente vestido que sonríe mientras visita la oficina de impuestos en medio de visitantes pobres e infelices.

Kroll dijo en una entrevista previa, que «no puede soportar ser acusado de antisemitismo» porque no lo es, y tiene «muchos amigos judíos».

La comunidad judía ortodoxa de Amberes ha tenido menos de 20 muertes por el coronavirus. Esto sucedió en gran parte gracias a una adhesión temprana y atenta a las medidas contra el contagio
