Los medios occidentales están desesperados por encubrir el terrorismo islámico, como múltiples ejemplos (citados más adelante) sugieren. Ellos tratan de dibujar una equivalencia entre la víctima y terrorista. Pero, ¿dónde vimos un grupo cristiano quemando una mezquita a gritos de “Cristo es grande”?
Mientras Occidente experimenta un aumento en el tipo de ataques terroristas que son endémicos en el mundo islámico -ataques a las iglesias, la esclavitud sexual y decapitaciones- es natural que los mismos medios de comunicación dominantes que ocultan habitualmente tales atrocidades “allá” especialmente contra los cristianos y otras minorías en el mundo islámico, también ocultarían la realidad de las aspiraciones yihadistas “aquí.”
Como fue reportado por The Commentator:
“El nivel de la humillación de los medios después de la saga trágica y mortal en Sydney, Australia durante las últimas 24 horas ha sido asombroso.
En el momento de la escritura, la historia principal en la página web de la BBC, por supuesto, sobre esa misma tragedia, en la que un fanático islamista tomó de rehén a un grupo al azar en un café, en última instancia, matando a dos de ellos.
El asesino hizo esto en el nombre del Islam. Pero no conseguiría esa impresión si usted comienza a leer historia principal de la BBC, que logró sorprendentemente evitar mencionar las palabras Islam, islámico, islamistas, musulmanes, o cualquier derivaciones del mismo para un texto completo de 16 párrafos. The New York Times, llegó a llamar al terrorista –el islamista iraní Haron Monis- un “hombre armado”.
En la historia principal de The Guardian de Londres, cuyo párrafo inicial se refería simplemente a un “pistolero”, el lector tuvo que esperar entender el contexto hasta el párrafo 24.”
Al igual que con el ataque de Sydney, los titulares de los medios tienen un patrón similar de cubrimiento de los mismos hechos en Medio Oriente. El ataque de 2011 en Egipto contra la iglesia copta en su celebración de fin de año, que dejó 28 muertos fue catalogado bajo titulares vagos como estos: “Los enfrentamientos crecen entre
los egipcios que siguen molestos después de un ataque”, (titular del New York Times) y “Cristianos chocan con la policía en Egipto después del ataque a los feligreses” (Washington Post)- como si cristianos frustrados y acosados arremetiendo contra sus opresores fuera la “gran noticia”, y no la propia atrocidad sin provocación.
El diario Los Angeles Times cubrió así la historia de un oficial de policía egipcio fuera de servicio que, después de identificar a los coptos por sus cruces en un tren, abrió fuego contra ellos, matando a uno, mientras gritó “Allahu Akbar”: “Las declaraciones de testigos plantean que el atacante no apuntó a los coptos, según dicen los medios de comunicación estatales” (en manos del presidente islamista Morsi para aquel entonces).
Un reporte del New York Times que apareció el 25 de diciembre de 2011 – el día después de que la guerrilla islamista de Nigeria Boko Haram bombardeó varias iglesias durante los servicios de Nochebuena, dejando unos 40 muertos – dijo que tales atentados “explotan las ya deshilachada división entre los cristianos y los musulmanes”.
Tal afirmación sugiere que los cristianos y los musulmanes están motivados por igual por la hostilidad religiosa -aun cuando uno busque en vano alguna información sobre organizaciones terroristas cristianas que pongan bombas a las mezquitas en Nigeria a gritos de “¡Cristo es grande!”.
