El presidente ucraniano, Volodimir Zelensky, evocó la Segunda Guerra Mundial y el horror del Holocausto para reclamar un apoyo más firme de Israel a Ucrania. Pidió evitar la “solución final” de Rusia, en un discurso por videoconferencia ante la Knéset (Parlamento israelí).
“Escuchen qué dice el Kremlin, son las mismas palabras, la misma terminología que los nazis usaron contra ustedes. Es una tragedia”, apeló Zelensky, de origen judío, ante 112 parlamentarios de los 120 que integran la Knéset.
“Estoy seguro de que comparten y sienten nuestro dolor. Por eso, no puedo explicar por qué a estas alturas aún tenemos que instar a países de todo el mundo a que nos presten ayuda”, indicó Zelensky. Lo hizo en el vigésimo quinto día de guerra en su país, con el cerco en Mariupol como el episodio más cruento.

Zelensky insistió en que la invasión rusa de Ucrania no es una operación militar más, sino que es la peor guerra desde la II Guerra Mundial. “Ejército ruso está destruyendo maliciosamente Ucrania mientras el mundo entero está mirando”, agregó.
“La indiferencia mata, el cálculo de intereses mata. Puedes navegar entre intereses, pero no puedes navegar entre el bien y el mal”, apeló.
También reclamó a Israel que ofrezca visas de entrada a los millones de refugiados ucranianos, ya que hasta ahora solo permite quedarse a aquellos con origen judío.
A su vez, les recordó a los parlamentarios que hace ochenta años, el pueblo ucraniano eligió salvar a los judíos de los nazis.
“Gente de Israel, ahora ustedes también tienen que elegir”, apeló Zelensky. Expresó en varias ocasiones su deseo de que el gobierno israelí se muestre más firme contra Rusia.
Sin embargo, Zelensky valoró los esfuerzos de mediación por parte del primer ministro Naftali Bennett. El PM del Estado judío fue el único líder mundial que se reunió con Putin en Moscú desde que comenzó la guerra. Incluso ha sugerido reunirse cara a cara con el mandatario ruso en Jerusalén, reportó Infobae.
Por su parte, el gobierno israelí calificó de “indignante” la comparación entre la invasión rusa y el Holocausto.
Israel “aprecia al presidente de Ucrania y apoya al pueblo ucraniano de corazón y obra. No obstante, es imposible reescribir la terrible historia del Holocausto”, dijo el ministro de las comunicaciones israelí Yoaz Hendel.
“Un genocidio que también fue cometido en suelo ucraniano. La guerra es terrible, pero la comparación con los horrores del Holocausto y la solución final es indignante”, sentenció.
