Científicos israelíes desarrollan una «capa de invisibilidad»

Para lograr la invisibilidad se necesita una “capa”, un chip hecho de una material especial, que evite que logra desviar la luz y evita con ello que se refleje en un objeto, lo cual la vuelve no visible ante el ojo humano.

En la Universidad Ben Gurión en el Néguev desarrollan una “capa de invisibilidad” tal y como en las de historias de ciencias de ficción.

Somos capaces de ver todos los objetos existentes a nuestro alrededor debido a la luz que cae sobre ellos, la cual reflejan y que llega a nuestros ojos.

Los investigadores israelíes han logrado un método con esta “capa” para desviar esa luz y evitar que llegue a un objeto, por lo que la luz no es reflejada en el mismo y queda totalmente en un estado invisibilidad para el ojo humano.

“Los resultados abren la puerta para nuevos dispositivos fotónicos integrados, aprovechando campos electromagnéticos de luz a nanoescala para una variedad de aplicaciones, desde dispositivos ópticos en chips hasta procesamiento óptico” comentó Alina Karabchevsky, miembro de la unidad de ingeniería electrónica óptica de la Universidad Ben Gurión y quien lidera el proyecto.

Hasta ahora su teoría indica que objetos con un índice de refracción muy menor, pueden ser invisibles con esto. El paso a seguir por estos investigadores es ahora poder desarrollar un prototipo para aplicar este método y cerciorarse de su teoría.
