Graves diferencias en el gobierno israelí por el posible acuerdo con Hamás

Bennett: «la capitulación frente a Hamás traerá la guerra»; Liberman: «Bennett sacrifica soldados por política»

El ministro de Educación, Naftali Bennett, líder del partido religioso nacional Habait Hiehudí (Hogar judío) criticó duramente al ministro de Defensa, Avigdor Liberman, (Israel Beitenu [Israel nuestro hogar]) por el eventual acuerdo de cese del fuego de larga duración que ha sido propuesto con el grupo terrorista islámico Hamas.

Egipto está mediando en un arreglo de cese del fuego entre Israel y Hamas y se espera que el mismo incluya mejoras en las condiciones humanitarias en Gaza, como así también la construcción de un puerto marítimo en Chipre o en la ciudad egipcia de Ismailía, y un aeropuerto en la península de Sinaí.

Las críticas de Bennett reflejan graves tensiones en el seno del Gabinete en torno al posible acuerdo con Hamás.

Bennett le dijo al diario Yeidiot Aharonot que “Liberman optó por ceder, y eso conducirá a la guerra. Su vacilación y su percepción ilusoria, según la cual los habitantes de Gaza derrocarán a Hamas y suministrarán seguridad a los residentes [israelíes] de la zona fronteriza con Gaza, es completamente infundada e irresponsable”.

“El mismo Liberman que prometió derribar a Hamas y eliminar [al líder de Hamas Ismail] Haniyeh ahora les está dando recompensas, a expensas de la seguridad del Estado de Israel. Su política débil, bajo la pantalla del pragmatismo y la responsabilidad, permite a Hamas quemar el sur [de Israel] durante 140 días y dictarles a los habitantes cuándo tienen que correr hacia los refugios antiaéreos y cuándo pueden abandonarlos”.

“Todo aquel que cede ante el terrorismo trae más terrorismo, y Liberman ha cedido. Su enfoque pone en peligro al Estado de Israel y traerá un conflicto inevitable en los términos que dicte Hamas y en el momento que sea conveniente para ellos”.

Un portavoz del partido Israel Beitenu, encabezado por Liberman, respondió a Bennett: “La política del Gobierno israelí es decidida por el Gabinete, o al menos por los que están presentes en las reuniones pertinentes. Todo aquel que esté listo y dispuesto a sacrificar la sangre de nuestros soldados en el altar de sus intereses políticos no es digno de involucrarse en cuestiones de seguridad. Sería mejor para él que invierta su tiempo preparándose para el próximo año escolar, que esa es su responsabilidad”.
