El Partido Laborista de Reino Unido ha readmitido este martes a su anterior líder, Jeremy Corbyn.

Lo hizo tras su suspensión por su postura ante las acusaciones de antisemitismo vertidas contra la formación.

La decisión, que podría favorecer al actual líder, Keir Starmer, se topará con las críticas de grupos judíos informó Infobae.

Fuentes cercanas señalaron que una comisión del partido ha acordado levantar la suspensión. No obstante, el antiguo líder laborista no ha recibido ninguna notificación formal por el momento.

Corbyn indicó que lamentaba cualquier daño causado por sus comentarios en el marco del informe difundido sobre las acusaciones de antisemitismo. Allí se daba cuenta de «graves fallos» por parte de la antigua cúpula.

Se suspendió al exlíder laborista tras la investigación que llevó a cabo la Comisión de Igualdad y Derechos Humanos, que concluyó que los laboristas no respondieron a las quejas presentadas durante la etapa de Corbyn y que, de hecho, hubo injerencia por parte de la oficina del anterior líder de la oposición británico.

Así, se declaró al partido responsable de los «actos ilegales de acoso y discriminación» ocurridos entre sus filas, tanto por fomentar ciertos mensajes estereotipados sobre los judíos como por restar importancia a las quejas, algo que hizo el propio Corbyn.

Hace menos de un mes, el presidente de la Agencia Judía, Isaac Herzog, consideró un hito en la lucha contra el antisemitismo la suspensión de Jeremy Corbyn del Partido Laborista del Reino.

«La decisión del Partido Laborista del Reino Unido marca un hito importante en la eliminación del azote del odio y el antisemitismo de un partido histórico e importante en Gran Bretaña», declaró en un comunicado Herzog.

Con esta decisión, añadió, el Partido Laborista «está dando ejemplo al mundo entero en la eliminación del antisemitismo del juego político».

Herzog recordó cómo durante el tiempo en que fue presidente del Partido Laborista de Israel (2003-2018) y líder de la oposición, invitó a Corbyn, entonces presidente del Partido Laborista del Reino Unido, a visitar el Museo del Holocausto de Jerusalén, Yad Vashem, «para aprender más sobre el Holocausto y sus lecciones».
