Legislador lituano dijo que los judíos comparten la culpa del Holocausto

El parlamentario lituano Valdas Rakutis escribió una editorial en la que afirmó que los judíos comparten la culpa del Holocausto.

Rakutis, del gobernante partido conservador Unión Patria, recibió fuertes críticas de embajadores y compañeros. En su artículo de opinión aseveró, por ejemplo, que «No faltan perpetradores del Holocausto entre los judíos».

En la editorial, publicada en LRT el Día Internacional de Conmemoración de las Víctimas del Holocausto, Rakutis escribió que algunos judíos también fueron cómplices de las atrocidades.

«¿Pero qué hay de estos ayudantes? ¿Quiénes son las personas que adoptan ideas terribles? ¿Son los líderes del pueblo lituano como el primer voluntario Kazys Škirpa o Generolas Vėtra (Jonas Noreika)? ¿O tal vez Antanas Smetona? No, estas son personas completamente diferentes, a menudo sin educación. Inclinadas a sentirse importantes con un arma en la mano. A veces severamente afectadas por la represión soviética de 1941. A veces siguiendo órdenes ciegamente», escribió el legislador.

«Después de todo, no hubo escasez de perpetradores del Holocausto entre los judíos mismos, especialmente en las estructuras de autogobierno del gueto. Debemos nombrar a estas personas en voz alta y hacer todo lo posible para asegurarnos de que no haya personas como ellos nuevamente», aseveró.

Y agregó: «Pero nosotros también tenemos que responder a la pregunta de cuáles eran las opiniones de los judíos mismos. Qué ideas llevaron a algunos judíos a colaborar con las autoridades soviéticas y ocupar puestos importantes en las estructuras represivas soviéticas. A veces, la comprensión de la pausas permite comprender las consecuencias, aunque no justifica las acciones».

El ministro de Relaciones Exteriores del país y jefe del partido, Gabrielius Landsbergis, expresó su indignación por las afirmaciones de Rakutis. «Estoy muy enojado por la falta de adecuación y comprensión. La opinión del parlamentario no tiene nada que ver ni con mi posición ni con los principios a los que se adhiere el partido que represento o el gobierno en el que trabajo», aseguró.

Posteriormente, Rakutis dijo que quería ampliar el debate en torno a la colaboración en el Holocausto. «Los judíos fueron llevados a guetos y los guetos tenían su administración. Por supuesto que esto no fue un autogobierno judío. Fue una herramienta para la nación alemana. Naturalmente, la administración del gueto no es lo más atractivo y el pueblo judío tuvo que sobrevivir en estas condiciones y tomar varias decisiones», aclaró.

Por su parte, Emanuelis Zingeris, compañero de partido, anunció que se retiraría de la comisión en protesta. Otros políticos y figuras públicas se pronunciaron públicamente en contra de las afirmaciones de Rakutis.

Los embajadores de EE.UU., Alemania e Israel reaccionaron tras la afirmación de Rakutis de que los judíos comparten la culpa del Holocausto.

Robert Gilchrist, embajador de Estados Unidos en Lituania, dijo que los comentarios de Rakutis fueron «impactantes» y «vergonzosos». «Es impactante que en el Día Internacional de Conmemoración del Holocausto, de todos los días, un miembro del Seimas (poder legislativo lituano al que pertenece Rakutis) defienda distorsiones con respecto a los colaboradores del Holocausto en Lituania y busque vergonzosamente acusar a los judíos de ser los perpetradores», twitteó Gilchrist.

El embajador alemán, Matthias Sonn, también manifestó su repudio. «Es profundamente impactante ver este entendimiento común distorsionado en el Día de la Memoria del Holocausto. Incluso insinuar que las víctimas eran culpables de alguna manera de su propia persecución asesina bajo la ocupación alemana nazi es absolutamente inaceptable», dijo.

A su vez, Yossef Levy, el embajador israelí, describió las declaraciones de Rakutis como «insensibles» e «inquietantes». «¡Esto es triste para mí después de que tantas grandes personas hicieron un esfuerzo tan personal para mostrar respeto a las víctimas!», expresó.
