Se confirmó que falleció por COVID-19 Ali Akbar Mohtashamipour, un clérigo chiíta que, como embajador de Irán en Siria, ayudó a fundar el grupo terrorista libanés Hezbollah.

Fue un aliado cercano del fallecido líder supremo de Irán, el ayatolá Ruhollah Khomeini. Formó en la década de 1970 alianzas con grupos musulmanes en todo el Medio Oriente.
