El famoso cineasta Quentin Tarantino fue uno de los 19 galardonados con un título honorífico de la Universidad Hebrea de Jerusalén.
Tarantino, que está casado con una mujer israelí y se radica en el Estado Judío desde 2020, recibió el título honorífico “Doctorado Honoris Causa en Filosofía”.
“En reconocimiento a su éxito cinematográfico aclamado por la crítica como escritor, director y actor; en honor a sus 10 películas de éxito y numerosos premios de la Academia…y en homenaje a sus fuertes lazos con Israel a través de su esposa Daniella, y por hacer de Israel su segundo hogar”, declaró la Junta de Gobernadores en su título.
Los galardonados, por su parte, se distinguieron por su liderazgo académico, sus logros creativos o sus actividades de notable beneficio para la humanidad, el Estado de Israel o el pueblo judío. Tarantino estuvo acompañado por el rabino Jonathan Sacks, el jurista Lee Epstein, la artista israelí Sigalit Landau y otros académicos y filántropos.

Los primeros meses de Tarantino como residente israelí
Tarantino, conocido por películas clásicas de culto como Pulp Fiction e Inglorious Basterds, se trasladó a Israel en medio de la pandemia del COVID-19 y sugirió que podría filmar su próximo -y quizás último- proyecto en Jerusalén.
“Si haces una película en Jerusalén, no hay ningún lugar al que puedas apuntar la cámara en el que no captures algo fantástico”, aseveró.
El cineasta dejó su vida en Los Ángeles y se mudó a Tel Aviv junto a su pareja, la cantante israelí Daniella Pick. Desde entonces: una pandemia, el nacimiento de su primer hijo y la experiencia en carne propia de sufrir ataques de misiles disparados por Hamás.
La relación de Tarantino con el hebreo está atravesada, principalmente, por los dibujos animados que entretienen a su hijo. “Le empecé a mostrar videos de Snoopy y Charlie Brown que le gustaron, pero su favorito es ‘Sam el bombero’. Y por cierto, su doblaje en hebreo me gusta mucho más que en inglés”, comentó.
